Chris Edgerly voice acting parts can be found peppered throughout various entertainment industries, but there are some roles that just garner special attention. During his career as a voice actor, Chris has brought a handful of characters to life so well on screen that they have become “fan favorites” and today we’re going to look at just a few of them!
Fan Favorite Chris Edgerly Voice Acting Parts
Aragorn, one of the main characters in the Lord of the Rings series. Confident to Gandalf the Wizard and participant in the quest for the ring, Aragorn is voiced by Chris Edgerly in nine video game roles which include: 2003’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King , 2004’s The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age , 2004’s The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth, 2006’s The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II, 2006’s The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II – The Rise of the Witch-king, 2007’s The Lord of the Rings Online, 2009’s The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, 2011’s The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, and 2012’s Lego the Lord of the Rings: The Video Game.
An airship pilot with an attitude, Cid Highwind stems from the Final Fantasy video game series and can also be spotted in the Kingdom Hearts video games. Cid is voiced by Chris in four games total including: 2005’s Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, 2005’s Kingdom Hearts II, 2006’s Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, and 2007’s Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+.
Originating in 1964, Peter Potamus is a purple and pink hippopotamus and was the main character of his own Hanna-Barbera cartoon – “The Peter Potamus Show”. After three seasons the show was canceled but was reinvented with the airing of the animated series “Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law in the 2000’s. Although Chris didn’t voice Peter for the first of the series, he took over the voice of Peter in later episodes (beginning in 2004 through 2007) and quickly became a fan favorite!
Nick Diamond (pictured, right) was a fictional character developed for the Celebrity Deathmatch animated TV show. A former meteorologist and former Golden Gloves champion, Nick Diamond likes to think that he’s the more dominant of the two Celebrity Deathmatch announcers, but the truth is that he is frequently pummeled by his co-host. A Celebrity Deathmatch announcer alongside Johnny Gomez, Nick Diamond was originally voiced by another voice actor but from 2006 to 2007, Chris Edgerly voice talent extraordinaire took over the role.
A well-known character from the How to Train Your Dragon series, Gobber the Belch is a veteran of the Hairy Hooligan tribe and parental figure to Hiccup. The large balding Viking is known for having a kind heart despite being somewhat uncouth and has been featured in a number of the How to Train Your Dragon movies and spin-offs. Known for being voiced by Craig Ferguson, the voice of Gobber was taken over in the Dragons: Race to the Edge animated series from 2015 through to 2017.
Unlike other characters on this list, Marv Szyslak isn’t a recurring character (yet) but he was certainly one that Chris Edgerly voice acted that none of his fans can forget! Plus, with active voice-over roles on The Simpsons since 2011, it wouldn’t be fair to touch on fan favorites without including any of Chris’s roles from the show. Marv Szslak made his appearance in the 2018 episode “King Leer” during a bitter dispute between Marv, his brother Moe, and his sister Minnie Szyslak when their father left his Mattress business to the three of his children.
Marv is certainly a memorable Simpsons character to watch out for, but in addition to his voice, Chris has also played the voice of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, William Shakespeare, Ricky Ricardo, and more “extras” on the show than you can begin to count!
